So, Dolly’s room is packed except for her clothing. She’s got very few toys left out but that’s okay; she’ll deal with it for the next couple of weeks. I also got the books and movies off the boys’ bookshelves. The toys will be moved in the toy boxes and the art stuff will be put in a plastic tub. Whatever clothing they’re taking to their dad’s for vacation will be put in suitcases and the rest will be moved in the dressers. My clothing is already in boxes since I sold my bedroom set months ago to help pay to get the van tagged. I’ve still got stuff in the closet, though, as do the kids.
I got lots of boxes today from Dollar General – I just LOVE that store – and they said they’ll have more tomorrow. I’ll be there! I need to get more packing tape too. Went through one roll already and started on the second. My tapes and DVDs are packed as well as everything else in my room (other than the closet, but I just said that). I’m just moving right along. I even sold two items from the multitude of ads I placed on craigslist. I sold my vanity with mirror to a woman who’s going to refinish it and will probably turn around and re-sell it for four times what she paid me for it. Go girl!!
The boys’ bunk bed set also went today. That’s an advantage and a disadvantage. The advantage is that it’s gone and I’ve got more money; the disadvantage is that we now don’t have a sofa. We were using the bottom bunk, the futon part, as the sofa since, a few months ago, we got rid of the behemoth of a sofa we had. Since the bunk bed buyers didn’t want the mattresses we kept the one from the top bunk and it’s now our make-shift sofa. I can’t really put my feet up on the coffee table and be comfortable, though. The way the mattress sits, when I put my feet up, I, quite literally, put them UP on the table. My ass is about a foot-and-a-half lower than my feet. I don’t really mind the mattress, though; it beats my ass getting sore from sitting on the floor. When the TV stand goes, everything will be back in place because the TV will be sitting on the floor, too. It’ll make everything nice and even again. I just hope the rest of the stuff I’m selling goes soon.
I think tomorrow, after I get some more boxes, I’ll get down in the basement and organize that stuff and get packed what I can. I still can’t bring boxes into the living room because the TV stand and the small bookshelf are still here. Once they’re gone I’ll be able to start stacking stuff up here so I can get an accurate count of what’s what. I just feel so disorganized right now. All of my glass stuff is wrapped and packed – I had less than I thought I did – so that’s ready to go. After the basement I’ll probably go back into the kitchen and get rid of all the stuff that I don’t use on a daily basis. Problem is, I’m running out of space to put the boxes. Right now, my bedroom is full because I can’t bring any boxes down here. I could move them all into Dolly’s empty room for now but that just means dragging them down the hall and back again when they can come downstairs. That may not sound like a lot to you but, to me, it’s overload.
Tracy gave me a website to check out that offers me a list of packing tips. I’ll take a look at it simply because I’m tired of standing in the middle of the floor spinning around trying to figure out what to do next. I get very dizzy after a while and the fact that I haven’t been drinking makes for a poor excuse. Tonight I am drinking; not much, just enough to get a light buzz going. I’m actually not even getting a really good buzz because I’m so tired. I’m ready to fall asleep right now but I’m also enjoying my accomplishments for the day. Enough patting myself on the back, for now, my arm is getting even more tired. I’m going to finish my drink and get some sleep. Tomorrow I’ll update you again on my progress whether you like it or not. I might take a break on Sunday just because it’s a holiday; but you’ll have to come back to find out.
Until next time…peace to all.
