Slow but Steady

Since I was here last I have done a lot yet not so much. We finally got the moving truck unloaded and everything stored where it needs to be, and we got the truck returned. Then I got my bank account opened, (I don’t know if I mentioned that or not), and today I tried to register the kids in school. They won’t let me put Dolly in Headstart without re-applying her, which I think is stupid. It’s a Federal program and she’s already qualified; she shouldn’t have to re-apply but they say they’ve got more applicants than spaces. Guess what? If you move her to the top of the list and find a place for her, that’s one less applicant on the list. So I applied her for Headstart and also for Pre-school. Well, almost for pre-k. There is paperwork they still need that I completed here and they need Ellen to sign a form stating we live with her. The boys’ school needs that also which is why they didn’t get enrolled today.

I’ve got everything I need now so Ellen and I will stop at the bank in the morning and get those forms signed and notarized; then we’ll go to the schools to get the enrollments complete; and afterwards, a trip to Costco so I can get some sunflower seeds. I haven’t had any since the car ride here and I need some. I just keep forgetting to get them while I’m out. I’ll have some tomorrow and will feel better. Back to topic, though; since Dolly is applied for both Headstart and Pre-K it’s a waiting game of sorts. She’ll qualify for Pre-K but I really want her in Headstart. If she gets a spot, she’ll attend there in the mornings and Pre-K in the afternoons so she’ll have a full-day program. If she doesn’t get a Headstart spot, she’ll just be attending Pre-K in the afternoons. That puts a crimp in work plans but things will work out the way they should. Ellen and I will be able to retrieve work while the other watches Dolly. It’ll be fine. I just wish the Headstart people would find her a spot. It doesn’t seem likely, though. We’ll see.

I’ve also still got to get my car insurance transferred here. The agent already has my info, it’s just a matter of me paying last month’s bill so I can continue the transfer. It’s hard, though, because the bank put my account into “Dormant State” when mail they sent me got returned. I had to update my account info and now I’m still waiting for CSE to pay me my child support so I can get some bills paid. I’m waiting on others again and I’m not liking it. After the insurance is transferred, I have to work on saving the money to get my van tagged here in MD. Remember the trouble I had in MO? I’m really hoping things will go much more smoothly here. After a couple of child support payments to me I should have the funds I need to get everything taken care of, and I can’t wait. That’ll be the last of everything and then I can relax and concentrate on how to earn an income. I’ll just have to take everything one step at a time and it’ll all get done. That’s all I can do for now.

Until next time…peace to all.
